CINCINNATI, Ohio — University of Cincinnati student-athletes representing many of its varsity sports spoke to students at Millvale School last month as part of the school’s College Week.
UC’s participation in the project was organized by the Committee To Promote Athletic Welfare and Success, a student-athlete run organization.
On Wednesday, April 13, C.P.A.W.S. members representing the football, volleyball, and men’s and women’s track teams traveled to Millvale School to speak to the students on the importance of staying in school. The students at Millvale were celebrating College Week to emphasize that attending college can and should be the goal of every student.
The UC student-athletes talked to students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade about how college is helping each of them prepare for a successful future. The student-athletes explained that even though they are Division I college athletes, the most important part of their college experience is their education. The personal stories told by the student-athletes allowed the children to see firsthand how college can be a reality for them.
The student athletes also answered questions and autographed basketballs, soccer balls, and footballs for the students to have as a reminder that hard work and fun can exist together.
