CINCINNATI - Paul Dehner, Jr., formerly of CNati.com, joins the GoBEARCATS.com staff as the lead blogger and beat writer, covering University of Cincinnati athletics for the school’s official athletics website. His blog, On the Bearcats Beat with Paul Dehner, Jr., will debut on Monday, July 5.
"As somebody who learned to love basketball watching the Bearcats at the Shoe and followed the rise of the football program closely through every groundbreaking win, it would be an understatement to say I am excited to bring the next generation of UC fans inside the program," Dehner, Jr. said.
A Cincinnati native and Moeller High School graduate, Dehner, Jr. covered the Bearcats with CNati.com, where he provided daily blog posts, Twitter, and Facebook updates, and marketing expertise to the upstart sports journalism website. Prior to his stint at CNati.com, Dehner, Jr. was an assistant sports editor at the Albany Herald in Albany, Ga., where he covered the University of Georgia and the Atlanta Braves. While at the Albany Herald, Dehner, Jr. was honored with an award by the Associated Press of Sports Editors for the top project story nationally in 2008 for a four-part series on former UC basketball player Dontonio Wingfield. Dehner, Jr. also held positions at the Key West Citizen in Key West, Fla., and the Searcy Daily Citizen in Searcy, Ark.
A 2003 graduate of Ohio University, Dehner, Jr. earned a B.S. in broadcast journalism and acted as the sports director for the campus radio station.
Dehner, Jr.’s daily coverage adds another facet to the content available on GoBEARCATS.com, the number one stop for the best coverage of UC Athletics. Bearcats fans are taking notice, as GoBEARCATS.com averaged over one million page views per month in 2009-10.
Supplementing Dehner, Jr.’s daily coverage are five regular contributors who produce original content throughout the athletics calendar year. Dan Hoard, the voice of the Bearcats football and men’s basketball teams, pens a column three times a week. Longtime UC radio man, Scott Springer, provides commentary on all things Bearcats in his blog, while former radio talk show host Wayne Box Miller gives UC fans the view from the "Box Seat".
Former ESPN SportsCenter anchor Betsy Ross provides coverage of UC’s women’s athletics and Tom Gelehrter, the radio voice of UC women’s basketball, covers Jamelle Elliott and her troops through the BIG EAST basketball season.
Enhanced video and multimedia content provide fans with unprecedented access to their favorite teams, players, and coaches and streaming audio and video coverage of games and events highlight the GoBEARCATS.com All-Access package.
