Dehner, Jr. Joins Staff

CINCINNATI - Paul Dehner, Jr., formerly of, joins the staff as the lead blogger and beat writer, covering University of Cincinnati athletics for the school’s official athletics website.  His blog, On the Bearcats Beat with Paul Dehner, Jr., will debut on Monday, July 5.

"As somebody who learned to love basketball watching the Bearcats at the Shoe and followed the rise of the football program closely through every groundbreaking win, it would be an understatement to say I am excited to bring the next generation of UC fans inside the program," Dehner, Jr. said.

A Cincinnati native and Moeller High School graduate, Dehner, Jr. covered the Bearcats with, where he provided daily blog posts, Twitter, and Facebook updates, and marketing expertise to the upstart sports journalism website. Prior to his stint at, Dehner, Jr. was an assistant sports editor at the Albany Herald in Albany, Ga., where he covered the University of Georgia and the Atlanta Braves. While at the Albany Herald, Dehner, Jr. was honored with an award by the Associated Press of Sports Editors for the top project story nationally in 2008 for a four-part series on former UC basketball player Dontonio Wingfield. Dehner, Jr. also held positions at the Key West Citizen in Key West, Fla., and the Searcy Daily Citizen in Searcy, Ark.

A 2003 graduate of Ohio University, Dehner, Jr. earned a B.S. in broadcast journalism and acted as the sports director for the campus radio station.

Dehner, Jr.’s daily coverage adds another facet to the content available on, the number one stop for the best coverage of UC Athletics. Bearcats fans are taking notice, as averaged over one million page views per month in 2009-10.
