Athletics News | CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati will unveil a new, redesigned and upgraded official athletics web site on Thursday, Aug. 24, that will serve as Bearcats fans' No. 1 stop for all of the best in UC coverage.

The site will even feature a new URL address - GoBEARCATS.com. Those who have the current web address (UCBearcats.com) bookmarked will be able to access the new site but are encouraged to create a new bookmark.

GoBEARCATS.com will be more fan-friendly and easy to navigate. Visitors can expect numerous new features including blogs from student-athletes, increased audio and video content and extensive live coverage of Bearcats Olympic sports. More than 100 live broadcast events will be featured annually, including a complete schedule of UC women's basketball games and select broadcasts of women's & men's soccer, volleyball, and baseball.

Full online audio coverage of Bearcat football and men's basketball will again be featured on the site by way of a partnership with YAHOO Sports. Hyperlinks to pod casts of both the Mark Dantonio and Mick Cronin television shows will also be available for the first time during their respective broadcast seasons.

Enhanced pages featuring UC's athletics facilities, ticket office and customer care offerings will enable fans to experience Cincinnati Athletics better than ever before. Certain features of the site will be in development for the next few months and will be added upon completion.

"Our goal is be the first stop for the Bearcat Nation to get the coverage they need of its favorite teams," said UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "With the new, sleek design and features that have been incorporated into this new site, Bearcat fans worldwide will have unprecedented access and exposure to the great things that are happening here at UC."

Thomas' monthly letter to UC fans will be one of the sites main page features. Fans who wish to contact Thomas can also do so by clicking on to an icon and e-mailing him directly.

Daily highlights of the web site include a schedule of weekly feature articles that will give fans a look at the inner workings of Bearcats Athletics. Contributing writers include the "Voice of the Bearcats", Dan Hoard, longtime UC Assistant AD for Sports Communications Tom Hathaway, and UC's new Manager of New Media and Broadcasting Tommy Gelehrter.

Starting in September, Gelehrter will host a daily internet call-in show on GoBearcats.com, including guests from national and local media, coaches, student-athletes, plus UC alumni who played for the Red & Black.
