Week Ahead: Lots Of Road Action; Tennis Team Opens Season Another busy week sees all squads away from home

Here's what's going on this week in UC sports:
The football team will take on North Carolina State (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Raleigh, N.C. The game will be televised on ESPN. The Bearcats are 1-1 this season.
The men's soccer team will participate in the Akron Tournament this weekend in Akron, Ohio. Their first game will be against Illinois-Chicago (0-4-0) at 5 p.m. Friday. The Bearcats will then take on the host of the tournament, No. 1 Akron (3-0-0), at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Cincinnati is 2-0-2 in regular season play.
The No. 15 women's soccer team will take on No. 18 Louisville (5-0-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Louisville, Ky. This will be the Bearcats' first BIG EAST Conference match of the season. UC will then battle crosstown rival Xavier (3-3-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday, at Xavier. Cincinnati is 5-1-1.
The women's volleyball team will take part in the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge this weekend in Louisville, Ky., continuing a six-match road trip. Their first match will be against No. 3 Illinois (8-1) at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a match versus Purdue (8-1) at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Bearcats are 8-3.
The cross country team will take part in the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday in New York, N.Y.
The tennis team will open its 2010-11 season traveling to the Bowling Green Invitational for a two-day tournament starting Friday.

Please use this new avenue for reporting if you require the assistance of police, fire, EMS, game day staff, or are witnessing a fan incident.

In case you missed it:
The football team defeated Indiana State in Cincinnati's first home game of the season, 40-7 last Saturday. The Bearcats secured their first win of the year, and the first win under new head coach Butch Jones. UC is 1-1, and improved to 13-0 at home over the last three seasons, two shy of the school record for consecutive home wins.
