UCATS Holds Third Annual Endowment Luncheon|
Nov. 7, 2016
CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics and UCATS held its third annual endowment lunch last week, celebrating its student-athletes and the donors who provide financial support for individual scholarships. The event took place in the Nippert Stadium West Pavilion.
The group was addressed by Director of Athletics Mike Bohn and Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director Karen Hatcher, along with football player Korey Cunningham, high jumper Loretta Blaut and donor Jim Amann. The student-athletes had the opportunity to express what a college scholarship has meant to them, while Amann discussed why he's involved with UC athletics and compelled to give back to the University.
There are two ways to help support the $6 million needed to provide over 500 student-athletes with athletic scholarships. The first is through an annual donation to UCATS. To read testimonials from current Bearcats student-athletes currently benefiting from athletic scholarships, click here.

The second is through scholarship endowment. Athletic endowments allow UC to provide a permanent source of income to support student-athletes. Each year, a portion of the invested fund is paid out to the University to offset the cost of a student-athlete's scholarship. Any earnings in excess of the annual distribution are used to build the fund's market value.
Endowments may be established and named beginning at $50,000, which will help to ensure that future generations of Bearcats student-athletes have the opportunity to become a part of the Cincinnati family. An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding which can be tailored to the donor's wishes.
