Heather Fons joined the UC sports medicine staff in Oct. 2010 as an assistant athletic trainer. She serves as the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball and tennis teams.
Fons joined the Bearcats after two years as an assistant athletic trainer at Coastal Carolina University. She was the primary athletic trainer for the Chanticleers' women's soccer and softball teams.
Prior to her time at CCU, Fons was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Connecticut from 2006-2008. Fons worked with the women's soccer and women's lacrosse teams in Storrs.
Fons spent the 2005-06 academic year as an athletic training intern at Coastal Carolina. She worked with women's soccer, men's and women's track and field and football during that span.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association.
Fons earned her bachelor's degree in education at Miami University (OH) in 2005. She also was a student athletic trainer at Miami from 2002-2005. She earned her master's degree in sports management and sociology from Connecticut in 2008.
