Andy Hurley joined the University of Cincinnati in March of 2006 to head the Athletic Development office. His primary duties as the Associate Athletics Director for Development are centered on managing efforts to generate private, philanthropic support to assist UC's student-athletes and coaches in building championship caliber programs in the BIG EAST.
He came to UC after seven years at the University of Buffalo, where he served as an assistant athletic director for the last three. Hurley had served as UB's Director of Athletic Development since September of 1998 before being appointed an Assistant Athletic Director of Development in July of 2003. He was responsible for all fundraising and development activities for the UB Division of Athletics, including securing major gift donations, providing leadership for the Blue & White Club fund drive for the Division of Athletics and serving as a member of the senior management team for athletics and university development at Buffalo. He implemented annual giving efforts that resulted in a significant increase in revenues over a five-year period. He also organized the first-ever capital campaign for Buffalo athletics.
Hurley joined UB after serving as Director of Marketing for Genesee Research and Development Corporation where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing and account management from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, he served as Director of Development for the New York Special Olympics from 1988 to 1995. He was the Executive Director of the Titan Athletic Foundation at Cal-State Fullerton in 1987-88.
Hurley earned his bachelor's degree from UB in 1984 and starred on the football team at defensive back, earning ECAC and Pizza Hut All-America honors in 1984. He received his master's degree in sports administration from the University of Massachusetts in 1987. Hurley and his wife Jackie have four children, Alexa, Jenna, Ryan and Jacob.
