Sturm joined the Bearcats staff in February 2013 as the director of learning services for the Office of Student-Athlete Support Services. Her responsibilities include working directly with student-athletes needing intensive instruction outside the classroom, as well as developing programming to promote the academic success of all student-athletes. She plays an integral role in the development and execution of the summer bridge program, coordinates educational screening and testing, and oversees the tutor and academic coach programs.
She came to UC from the University of South Carolina, where she worked since August 2008. As the Assistant Director of Academics and Coordinator of Learning Enhancement Programs, she was responsible for working with a caseload of underprepared student-athletes, leading the learning enhancement staff, coordinating the summer bridge program, and overseeing the tutor and mentor programs. Prior to her time at USC, Jennifer was the learning specialist at UC, where she also served as tutor program coordinator, and academic advisor for freshmen football, and men's and women's golf.
Sturm earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2002 from John Carroll University. She then attended Michigan State University, where she earned a master's degree in higher education administration in 2006, taught various kinesiology classes, and worked as a mentor with student-athlete support services.
