Football Opens Spring Practice With Tuesday Workout

The University of Cincinnati football team, defending BIG EAST Champions, opened up spring football Tuesday, with the first of 15 practices on the turf at Nippert Stadium.

Spring practices concludes with BEARCAT BOWL III, set to take place at Nippert Stadium on April 25.

Marcus Barnett saw time with the defensive backs, intercepting a pass and returning it for a touchdown. Barnett is one of several players at new positions on the opening day of spring practice. Craig Carey, Demetrius Jones, and Marcus Waugh all had reps at linebacker. Read More

Day Two Of Spring Practice In The Books For Football

The University of Cincinnati football team held a two-hour workout on the Nippert Stadium turf Wednesday, marking the second of its 15 spring practices.

The sun was out as the Bearcats ran through a myriad of drills with emphasis on 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. The tight ends group spent time working with the offensive line on blocking techniques, and the special teams got in some work on field goals early in the session. Read More

Football Back In Pads On Day Three Of Spring Practice

The University of Cincinnati football donned full pads for the first time since the FedEx Orange Bowl on New Year's Day for a two-hour workout Friday under overcast skies at Nippert Stadium.

The workout, the third of UC's allotted 15 for the spring, featured live hitting, individual position drills, and a spirited 11-on-11 session to close out the workout.

Head coach Brian Kelly was pleased with the hitting, but pointed out an area of improvement for the upcoming practices. Read More

Football Wraps Up Week One Of Spring Ball Saturday

The University of Cincinnati football team closed out its first week of spring practice with a two-hour workout, the fourth of 15 for the defending BIG EAST Conference Champions, under sunny skies Saturday at Nippert Stadium.

UC was in pads for the second-straight day, closing out practice with a brief scrimmage that included officials. Wide receiver Danny Milligan made a nice grab off a Chazz Anderson pass and turned it into a touchdown. Read More

Special Spring Football Auction Items Up For Bid

Two special items are up for bid on the GoBEARCATS.com auction site. Two UC fans, one on offense and one on defense, will have the chance to to be an honorary team captain for Bearcat Bowl III on April 25, 2009 at Nippert Stadium.

The winner of this once-in-a-lifetime experience will receive a sideline pass for Bearcat Bowl III, an official team-issued polo shirt, an official team-issued hat or visor, pre-game locker room access with the team, field access for the entire game, a game ball autographed by Head Coach Brian Kelly, and the captain will call the first play from the script provided by Coach Kelly before the game.

Football Returns For Spring Practice No. 5

The University of Cincinnati football returned to the practice field in full pads Wednesday, for a two-hour workout under sunny skies at Nippert Stadium.

Wednesday was short-yardage day, with the session closing with 11-on-11 in the red zone. Head coach Brian Kelly continued to make the improvement of the offense in short-yardage situations a priority this spring. Read More

Rain and cloudy skies were on tap for the University of Cincinnati football team as it wrapped the second week of spring practice with the seventh of 15 workouts, Friday at Nippert Stadium.

Football Back On The Field For Third Week Of Spring Practice

The University of Cincinnati football team opened up week three of practice with its eighth spring workout, under cloudy and rainy skies, Tuesday at Nippert Stadium.

The defending BIG EAST Champions spent two hours on the field after taking the Easter holiday off. Following some early individual work, the team moved into goal line situations, a move head coach said was to shake the rust from a three-day layoff. Read More

The University of Cincinnati football team held the ninth of its 15 spring workouts Wednesday, practicing for two hours under cloudy cool skies at Nippert Stadium.

Football Closes Out 10th Spring Workout Friday

The University of Cincinnati football team had a solid two-hour workout under sunny skies Friday at Nippert Stadium. Midway through practice, as the team engaged in situational 11-on-11 drills in the red zone, head coach Brian Kelly put a pair of gassers on the line for the unit that was successful on the final play of the period from the goal line. Isaiah Pead took the handoff from quarterback Tony Pike and took the ball in the end zone, earning a win for the offense, and sending the defenseto a post-practice gasser. Read More

The University of Cincinnati football team finished out spring practice 11 with a two-hour workout under clear skies, Saturday at Nippert Stadium.

Football Opens Last Week Of Spring Football

The University of Cincinnati football team returned to the practice fields Monday to open up the last week of spring football with a two-hour workout under rainy skies at Nippert Stadium.

Monday's practice was the 12th of 15 alloted under NCAA rules. UC will conclude the spring on April 25 at 7 p.m. with Bearcat Bowl III. All fans will be admitted free. This year, it will serve as the marquee event of Bearcats Pride Day. Other events include a football clinic, baseball game, athletics garage sale, and a soccer match. Practice 13 In The Books For Football As Spring Game Approaches

The University of Cincinnati football team continued the march towards Bearcat Bowl III on April 25, holding its 13th spring workout, Tuesday at Nippert Stadium. The team worked in a number of weather conditions, as it alternated from sunny skies, to clouds, to rain, and even a brief period of hail.

Following some field-goal unit work to open practice, the team moved into a number of individual position drills. Later practice periods saw 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions with specific work on red zone and short yardage packages. Read More
