Dear Bearcat Nation,
All of us within the University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics hope you are enjoying the lazy days of summer! Life here in the Lindner Center is very busy, gearing up for the 2006-07 season.
While we enjoyed a successful inaugural year in the BIG EAST, our work is far from done. One of the reasons we made the conference move was to compete at a higher level and we look forward to getting year two in the BIG EAST rolling later this month as Coach Hylton Dayes and our men’s soccer team entertain the University of Michigan Wolverines on Sunday, August 20. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Gettler Stadium. You can follow the full schedule of Bearcats Athletics events here on UCBearcats.com
By continuing to pursue increasingly competitive opportunities for our teams, it gives us a chance to continue to build relationships with our friends and alumni around the country. Through UCATS we will continue to bring you opportunities to meet our team members when we come to your cities and towns. To ensure that we don’t miss you, be sure and log in regularly to this site which will list all of our travel programs and special events as they are scheduled.
Of course, in order to continue to compete and establish long-term winning ways in the BIG EAST. We need to overcome our place in each conference’s fiscal standings. Choose your sport – the numbers are daunting but not insurmountable. On average, UC places in the bottom half of the league in discretionary budget comparisons. There are two simple ways you, our dedicated fans and partners, can help the UC team: be generous with your time, attending our big games and be generous with your money – both of which will provide an outstanding University of Cincinnati experience for our student-athletes and will certainly make you proud to be a Bearcat!
So enjoy the rest of your summer while we prepare the Bearcats for another exciting year. I look forward to spending time with each and every one of you in the upcoming year at a game or UCATS event.
With Cincinnati pride,
Mike Thomas
Director of Athletics
