The University of Cincinnati Dance Team is holding spring auditions for the 2013-2014 season Thursday, May 2nd, Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th. This is your opportunity to audition to be a part of a nationally recognized program!
Members of the Red and Black teams will be selected at this audition. The Red team performs at all home football & women's basketball games. The Black team performs at all home football & men's basketball games and competes at the UDA College National Championship in January. Both teams perform at select community and University events throughout the year. Scholarships are available for Black team members only.

Audition Requirements
Prior dance experience is required.
Three routines incorporating pom, jazz and hip-hop styles will be taught. During the routine portion of the audition, dancers will be evaluated on attention to detail, memory, execution, versatility and showmanship. We expect a high level of technical strength, physical endurance, control and body awareness.
Please be prepared to properly execute the following technical elements:
Turns:
triple, and quadruple pirouettes
fouettes (a la seconde)
Leaps/Jumps:
grande jete
leap in second (center)
toe touch (with various landings)
calypso
turning disc
Hip-Hop Skills:
Kip up
K-kick
Headspring
Handstand forward roll
You must demonstrate one hip-hop stall/trick of your choice. This should showcase your talent and strength.
Demonstration of Flexibility: You will be asked to showcase your flexibility with strength and control during the jazz and pom routines.
In addition to the skills listed, you will be observed throughout the audition process on your attitude, ability to learn quickly, enthusiasm, projection and overall performance.
Academics
All incoming freshman and/or transfer candidates must be accepted to the University of Cincinnati as a full-time student (12 credit hours/semester). Please visit the link below for more specific admissions requirements.
Admission Requirements
All current students at the University of Cincinnati must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and be in good academic standing for Spring Semester 2013.

Attire/Appearance
We suggest that you wear something form fitting with proper dance shoes. Hair should be pulled back neatly away from your face and makeup should be done as if it were a game or performance.
Audition Process:
Registration (Thursday, May 2nd 5-6 pm)
Upon arrival, all potential members must turn all completed paperwork, proof of insurance and their current photo.
Mandatory Clinic (Thursday, May 2nd 6-10 pm)
Warm-up will begin promptly at 6 pm followed by an overview of the required technical elements as described above. The pom, jazz and hip-hop routines that will be evaluated at the final audition will be taught at this clinic. It is possible that a cut will be made at the end of the night.
Open Practice & Interviews (Friday, May 3rd 5 pm-10 pm)
Each candidate will have a brief interview with the coaching staff. During this time, there will be an open practice including skills and routine review.
Final Audition: (Saturday, May 4th 9 am-?)
Dancers will perform for the coaching staff and a panel of judges in groups of 3 or 4. The final audition is open to the public.
At the conclusion of the audition, scores will be calculated and the 2013-2014 team will be chosen and announced. If selected as a member, you will be asked to stay for a brief meeting following the announcement.
