Former UC standout swimmer Randi Vogel is in her second season as an assistant coach with the Bearcats squad. In her role, she assists in all aspects of running the program, as well as working with the backstrokers and distance freestyle swimmers.
Vogel joined UC after working for Hendricks Sports Management in Houston, Texas for a year. She served as an agency assistant handling various administrative tasks related to the firm's day-to-day operations.
"I'm excited to be back in Cincinnati," Vogel said. "I appreciate the opportunity to work with my alma mater and look forward to bringing my knowledge of the sport and perspective to the program. There's a lot of potential here and the future is very bright for UC."
Vogel is a 2007 graduate of UC with a degree in communications. She earned a Bearcat Leadership Award and served as a team captain as a senior. She earned an NCAA 'B' time in the 200 backstroke as a junior.
She started her collegiate career at Tennessee where she swam for the Lady Vols for two years (2002-04).
Vogel, who was born in Houston, Texas, grew up in Cincinnati and earned four varsity letters at Mt. Notre Dame H.S. while serving as team captain her senior year. She garnered prep all-America honors in two events as a sophomore, three as a junior and three as a senior.
She comes from a swimming family as both parents were collegiate swimmers. Her father John Vogel swam at Tennessee from 1974-77 and her mother Diane Lubis was an all-American at the University of Houston and former world record holder.
