COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams dropped a Saturday afternoon dual meet against Ohio State University at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
The Cincinnati men fell to the No. 10-ranked OSU men’s team 152-133, while the UC women were downed 171-115 to the No. 15 Buckeyes women’s squad.
In event 19, the women’s 200-yard backstroke, freshman Jessica Piper recorded Cincinnati’s first individual win of the day after she placed first with a mark of 2:02.79.
In the women’s 400-yard individual medley, freshman Iuliia Fedoreeva and sophomore Aleksandra Kaminska placed first and second with marks of 4:35.42 and 4:38.88, respectively.
Bearcats junior Weronika Wasiakowska placed second in the women’s 100-yard freestyle with a recorded time of 52.12. Senior Bailey Laban was 1.15 seconds behind with a fourth-place time of 53.27. Laban added a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:06.81.
Junior Victoria Jacumski produced a third-place time of 2:22.27 in the women’s 200-yard breaststroke.
In the men’s division, sophomore Mike Kaplan earned third-place points in the 200-yard freestyle after finishing in 1:42.82.
Cincinnati resumes action on Saturday when the University of Kentucky comes to town for a dual meet at Keating Aquatics Center. Following the diving portion of the meet, which is set to begin at 11 a.m., the Bearcats will honor its seniors as part of Senior Day festivities.
