Bearcats Swept at Kentucky in Regular Season Finale|

Freshman freestyler Jackie Keire continued her impressive rookie campaign, winning the 100 freestyle (51.37) and the 500 freestyle (4:54.58). She also posted a runner-up finish in the 1,000 freestyle (10:83.34). Weronika Wasiakowska was UC's top finisher in the 200 free, placing fourth in 1:56.47, and the 50 free, placing second with a time of 24.06.
Men's freestyle action saw Michael Palleros lead the 50 free with a second place time of 21.64. Dean Waite was the quick Bearcat in the 100 free, touching the wall in 47.28. Connor Davis had the top 200 freestyle time of 1:43.72, while Tommy Easley was fastest in the 500 free (4:51.29). Donovan Kearns was the lone UC swimmer in the mile, posting a time of 16:32.59.
Jessica Piper and Miranda Hampton led the way for the women in the backstroke. Piper finished third in the 100 with a time of 59.28, while Hampton was second in the 200, clocking in at 2:06.66. For the men, Awse Ma'aya led the way in the 100 backstroke (52.41), while Joe Scherpenberg was fastest in the 200 with a time of 1:58.91.
Sammie Wheeler earned a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:06.57. Andrea Bartel placed fifth to lead UC in the 200 breast, recording a mark of 2:30.55. On the men's side, Trenton Harper was fastest in both the 100 (59.22) and 200 (2:09.13).
The 400 individual medley saw Bartel go quickest for the women in 4:38.96, while Joe Bott was fastest on the men's side in 4:13.21.
The 400 medley relay to open the meet saw the women's team of Piper, Helena Pikhartova, Iuliia Fedoreeva and Wasiakowska place third in 3:55.78. The men's team of Scherpenberg, Harper, Ma'aya and Palleros was also third in 3:32.32.
The 400 freestyle relay bookended the meet with Wheeler, Aleksandra Kaminska, Keire and Piper posting a time of 3:33.44. The men's 400 free relay saw Waite, Palleros, Easley and Davis clock in at 3:08.29.
On the board, Chloe Merriss again posted the top score for UC on the one-meter (216.75), while Amanda Coffey was the top female on the three-meter (227.40). For the men, Bill Magill posted the top one-meter score of 234.83, while Jimmy McMahon was the best Bearcat off the three-meter at 226.35.
The Bearcats will now travel to Louisville for the 2014 American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet will be held at UofL's Ralph Wright Natatorium Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 19-22.
