EAST MEADOW, N.Y.  -- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished fifth and seventh, respectively, at the 2006 BIG EAST Championships, which wrapped up Saturday night at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.  Senior Ann Degenstein (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) won the 200 butterfly title, breaking a school school record and improving her ranking to sixth nationally in the event.

One day after winning the 100 butterfly and automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships, Degenstein broke her own school record in the 200 fly, touching the wall in 1:58.28.  She now holds both the 100 and 200 butterfly records and will represent the Bearcats at the NCAA Championships in both events.
