Day Two At Miami Invitational In The Books|

OXFORD, Ohio -The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams saw 10 competitors reach A-Final races during day two of competition at the Miami Invitational. Both Bearcats squads, swimming fewer athletes due to the University's upcoming final exams, stand in fifth place.
Iuliia Fedoreeva was the first to reach an A-Final, swimming a 200 fly time of 2:02.99 in the prelim before placing second in the final with a mark of 2:02.03. Nathan Anderson reached the A-Final on the men's side, touching the wall in 1:53.39 in the prelim before a 1:54.00 time in the final to finish eighth.
Two Bearcats made the A-Finals in the 200 freestyle. Tommy Easley was seventh-fastest in the morning at 1:41.07, while Joe Scherpenberg was ninth fastest at 1:41.47. Scherpenberg went quicker in the final, finishing seventh in 1:41.22. Easley was eighth in 1:41.89.
Helena Pikhartova earned second-place points in the 100 breaststroke. She swam the prelim in 1:02.68 before finishing the final in 1:02.39 to place second. Pikhartova was joined in the A-Final by Sammie Wheeler, who was seventh-fastest in the prelim (1:03.77) before placing ninth in the final (1:04.43).
Donovan Kearns made the A-Final in the 100 backstroke thanks to a time of 51.54 in the prelim. He finished ninth in 51.73.
Fedoreeva and Andrea Bartel both qualified for the A-Final in the 400 individual medley. Fedoreeva swam the prelim in 4:25.14 while Bartel posted a morning time of 4:27.61. Fedoreeva finished the final in fourth (4:24.70), followed by Bartel in seventh (4:28.29).
Pikhartova reached another A-Final in the 50 freestyle. She posted a prelim time of 23.66 and a final time of 23.82 to place seventh. On the men's side, Rob Walsh used a prelim time of 21.04 to reach the 50 free A-Final where he placed eighth in 21.19.
On the relay side, the women's group of Wheeler, Pikhartova, Aleksandra Kaminska and Amanda Hardewig placed seventh in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.88. The men's 200 freestyle relay saw Walsh, Dean Waite, Scherpenberg and Michael Palleros finish seventh in 1:23.80.
The 400 medley relay capped the day. UC's team of Kendra Bierman, Pikhartova, Fedoreeva and Wheeler finished third with a time of 3:47.05. For the men, Kearns, Daniel Gilbertson, Walsh and Scherpenberg placed seventh in 3:26.60.
The third and final day of action at the Miami Invitational begins on Saturday, Dec. 7, with prelims at 9:00 a.m. in the 200 back, 500 free, 100 fly, 200 breast, 100 free and 200 IM. The finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. and include the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
