CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams will open 2006 with a quadrangular meet against local rivals Louisville, Kenyon College and Miami (Ohio) on Friday, Jan. 13 in Oxford, Ohio. After construction delays at two different sites, the squads decided to combine meets and will square off on Jan. 13 at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center. The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
The Bearcats were originally slated to host Louisville in the first-ever BIG EAST meet for the program on Jan. 13 at the new Keating Natatorium on UC's campus. The meet was moved to Louisville due to construction delays on the UC Rec Center. UC was then slated to take on Kenyon and Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 14 in Gambier, Ohio, but that meet was cancelled due to construction on the Kenyon Athletic Center Natatorium.
Bearcat swimmers have not competed in a sanctioned meet since the Miami (Ohio) Invitational, Dec. 2-4. After a two week training trip to Florida, UC took a break over the holidays before holding its annual Intrasquad meet on Sat., Jan. 7.
UC will take on another BIG EAST foe when it travels to Morgantown, W. Va. for a 6 p.m. meet against West Virginia on Friday, Jan. 20.
