Swimmers Place Fourth, Sixth at C-USA
UC captures four titles on final day of competition

Marcel Kleiner won the 100 freestyle at the C-USA Invitational
HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of Cincinnati men's swimming team finished fourth and the women placed sixth at the Conference USA Invitational and C-USA Championship, respectively, today at Houston's CRWC Natatorium.
On the final day of competition, UC's Ann Degenstein won her second C-USA title of the meet, capturing the 200 butterfly in a meet-record 1:59.88, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Degenstein has won three consecutive C-USA titles in the 200 fly.
Carlo Piccio won his second event crown, grabbing the 1650 freestyle title in 15:41.36.
Piccio won the 400 IM earlier in the meet.
Freshman Marcel Kleiner was the 100 freestyle champion, finishing in a meet-record 44.69. Ryan Yearwood finished right behind Kleiner in 44.83. Both times are NCAA provisional marks.
The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Yearwood, Enrique Bayata, David Gustavsson, and Kleiner captured UC's fourth relay championship of the meet in a meet-record 2:58.65. The same four swimmers helped the Bearcats to titles in the 200 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 medley relays.
The Bearcat women's NCAA qualifiers will head to West Lafayette, Ind. on March 17-19. The men's NCAA Championships will be held on March 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
