– The University of Cincinnati men’s swimming team will be represented at the NCAA Championship meet for the first time since 2010 after junior Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) was announced as a qualifier by the NCAA on Wednesday. The distance swimmer competed at a last-chance meet this past weekend, swimming the 1650 freestyle in a time of 14:54.17, shattering his previous school record of 15:00.79 and earning his way into the final meet of the season.

The men’s championships will be held March 23-28 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 1650 race will take place on Saturday, the final day of the meet.

A total of 270 participants will compete in the championships. Swimmers qualified for the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered throughout the year.

Bready is the first UC men’s swimmer to earn a berth into the NCAA meet since 2010 when All-American Josh Schneider was crowned the champion in the 50 freestyle. He will be the second Bearcats swimmer to compete at the NCAA level this season, following senior Jacqueline Keire (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) who will compete in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events at the women’s championship March 16-18.

ESPN3.com will stream the championships finals sessions live on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday’s evening session, Thursday’s sessions along with the morning session on Friday and Saturday will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd.
