Bready Poised for First NCAA Championship

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati swimmer Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) is set to compete in his first NCAA Championship March 23-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The junior qualified in two events and will swim the 500 freestyle on Thursday and the 1650 freestyle on Saturday.

Bready’s first NCAA race will be in the 500 freestyle where he is seeded 53rd with a time of 4:21.38. He finished with a bronze medal in the event at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Feb. 16 in Houston, Texas.  

// 1650 FREESTYLE
Saturday, March 25 | 3:45 p.m. prelims (live stream) | 6:00 p.m. finals (live stream)
Bready’s specialty is the 1650 distance freestyle which he will swim on Saturday afternoon. Early heats will begin at approximately 3:45 p.m. while the rest will take place during the 6 p.m. finals session. Bready is seeded 24th with a time of 14:54.17 and will be aiming for a top-16 finish to earn All-America accolades. He took home the gold in this event at The American Championships, shattering his own meet record in the victory. 

A total of 270 participants will compete in the men’s championships. Swimmers qualified by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered throughout the year. 


 

 

ESPN3.com will stream the championships finals sessions live on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday’s evening session, Thursday’s sessions along with the morning session on Friday and Saturday will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 28. Live results for the championships will be available on NCAA.com.
