Swimming Adds 14 to Roster

The University of Cincinnati has announced the addition of 14 incoming student-athletes who will swim for the Bearcats starting in 2014-15. The group includes six additions to the women's squad and eight on the men's side.

"I am very excited for this incoming class," said assistant coach Mandy DiSalle. "As a whole, they are going to make an immediate impact at UC and help us continue to grow as a program. They add some much needed depth in certain events for each program. We're looking forward to seeing their success both in the pool and in the classroom."

Freestyle/Backstroke | Itasca, Ill. | Lake Park

High School: Leaves as school record holder in 200 backstroke and 400 freestyle relay ... Earned honorable mention all-state honors in the 200 freestyle as a senior, while also reaching the state finals in the 100 and 200 freestyle ... Helped the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams reach the state finals in 2014 ... Was a four-time state qualifier as a junior in the 100 and 200 freestyles, 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay ... During sophomore campaign, qualified for state meet in 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 medley ... During his freshman year, helped the 200 and 400 freestyle relays qualify for state meet ... Swam for the Hickory Willow Swim Association in Hoffman Estates, Ill., making the national team three years ... Reached the finals at the National Club Swimming Association Juniors in the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays.

Personal: Born Sept. 25, 1995  ... Son of Joseph and Lisa Gregor ... Has three siblings, Steven, Sandra and Sarah ... Named to honor roll every semester in high school.

High School: Swam for the Sienna Plantation Aquatics club, making multiple state and national finals appearances.

Butterfly/Freestyle | Montreal, Quebec | Loyola

High School: Posted personal bests of 23.62 in the 50-meter freestyle, 50.11 in the 100-meter freestyle and 55.77 in the 100-meter butterfly during prep career at Montreal's Loyola High School.

Personal: Born Sept. 4, 1995 ... Son of Marcel LaFleur and Brenda Anderson ... Has one brother, Joshua ... 

Ryan DePietro
IM/Butterfly | Lancaster, Ohio | Lancaster

High School: Was a district qualifier all four years at Lancaster, before reaching state as a senior ... Owns school record in the 500 free, while member of school record relay teams in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays ... Swam club with the Lancaster YMCA Stingrays (LYST) ... Reached the YMCA Short and Long Course Nationals in 2013 and '14 ... In 2014 at the YMCA Short Course Nationals, placed in the top-20 nationally in the 400 individual medley (10th), 200 breaststroke (18th), 200 butterfly (eighth) and 500 freestyle (12th)

Personal: Born May 9, 1996 ... Son of James and Jennifer DePietro ... Has two siblings who have both swam collegiately ... Meghan DePietro swam at Ashland (2009-10), while brother, Chris, swims at Ohio State ... Member of National Honor Society.

Named Louisiana High School Athletic Association's Division 3 Outstanding Swimmer as a senior, while also earning a spot on the LHSAA's Academic Composite Swim Team ... Set 3-A state records in the 200 (1:42.71) and 500 (4:34.22) freestyles as a junior ... Helped Parkview Baptist to consecutive third-place finishes at the state meet as a junior and sophomore ... Placed second in the state in both the 200 and 500 freestyles as a sophomore and a freshman ... Swam club for Crawfish Aquatics, setting the club's record in the 1,650 freestyle (15:52.17) ... Helped Crawfish to a total of seven short course and eight long course state meet titles since 2005.

Personal: Born Aug. 29, 1995 ... Son of Kevin and Tammy Miller .. Has two siblings, Jordyn and Adam ... Member of National Honor Society and four-time Dean's List honoree.

High School: As a senior, reached the state meet in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, placing fifth in the 200 free (1:40.36) and 19th in the 100 back (51.77) ... Placed 15th at the state meet in the 100 backstroke as a junior, while winning the Ohio Capital Conference championship in the event ... Also won OCC title as a freshman in the 200 individual medley ... Swam with the Hilliard YMCA, qualifying for YMCA Nationals in the 200 backstroke (12th), 200 freestyle (15th) and 100 freestyle (28th).

Personal: Born July 15, 1996 ... son of Pete and Maria Satre ... Has one brother, Eric, and one sister, Carolyn.

High School: Named high school team's MVP three straight years, while also earning Southwest Conferecne MVP as a senior ... Ends prep career with school and conference records in the 50 freestyle (20.82), 200 medley relay (1:36.53) and 400 freestyle relay (3:15.48), while also holding school record in 100 freestyle (47.23) ... Qualified for the state meet in the 50 free, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay in 2014, reaching the finals in the 50 free ... Also qualified for the state meet in the 50 free and the 200 free relay as a junior ... Qualified for the district meet in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle as a sophomore, junior and senior ... Swam club for SwimStrong.

High School: Helped Countryside to a fourth place finish at the state meet as a senior ... Earned All-America honors in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke ... Won the 200 freestyle at the state meet as a senior in 1:39.20 ... Placed second in the 100 back with a time of 49.30 ... Also a part of 400 freestyle relay team which placed first at state meet (1:24.71) and earned All-America honors and 200 freestyle relay team which placed third at state meet (3:07.61) and also earned All-America Honors ... Named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American as a sophomore and junior ... Swam club for TampaBayAquatics.

Personal: Born November 27, 1995 ... Son of Gary and Elieen Peters ... Has one sister, Haley ... Father, Gary, swam at the University of Nebraska (1978-81).

High School: Reached the Tennessee state meet in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle as a senior, finishing as state runner-up in the 100 fly (55.79) and ninth in the 500 free (5:07.15) ... Finished second in the 200 butterfly at the 2014 Southeastern Championships (2:01.75) ... Also reached the state meet in a pair of events as a junior, placing ninth in the 500 freestyle and 11th in the 100 butterfly ... Qualified for the state meet in both the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly as a sophomore ... Swam club for McCallie/GPS Aquatics, setting short-course club records in the 1,000 free, 1,650 free, 100 fly and 200 fly and long-course records in the 1,650 free and 200 fly.

High School: Won Trinity League 100 breaststroke title as a senior with a school record mark of 1:04.34, helping Santa Margarita to league championship and CIF Division 1 Championship ... Earned All-America honors in the 200 medley (1:45.6) for the second time, placing third at the CIF meet ... Set Catholic State Challenge record in the 100 breaststroke as a junior ... Named All-American in the 200 medley as a junior, placing third at the CIF meet in 1:45.5 ... First set school record in the 200 medley as a sophomore, placing third at the CIF meet ... Swam club for Irvine Novaquatics, reaching 2013 Junior Nationals in the 100 yard breast stroke and 400 meter medley relay.

Shelby Spitz
IM/Backstroke | Carmel, Ind. | Carmel

High School: Helped powerhouse Carmel to four consecutive Indiana state titles (25th-28th consecutive titles), as well as the Girls National High School Championship title in 2014 ... As a senior, placed 12th in the 200 individual medley at the state meet ... Finished 11th in the 500 freestyle at the Indiana state meet as a junior after placing 16th in the event as a sophomore ... Swam for the Carmel Swim Club, placing 23rd in the 200 individual medley at the NCSA Junior National Championships in 2014 ... Placed eighth in the 200 and 100 backstrokes and 50 freestyle at the senior state championships, while helping 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays to first place finishes.

High School: Helped Upper Dublin to 22nd-25th consecutive Suburban 1 American Conference Championships ... Team captain as a senior ... Set 200 individual medley school record as a junior (2:05.65) ... First set 200 IM record as a sophomore, helping Upper Dublin to a 10th place finish in Pennsylvania ... Part of 400 freestyle relay that won PIAA District 1 title and earned All-America status ... Also earned All-America honors in 400 freestyle relay as a freshman, while helping team to 13th-place finish in the state ... Swam for the Upper Dublin Aquatic Club, winning the club's Coaches Award in 2012-13.

Personal: Born Feb. 2, 1996 ... Daughter of Christopher and Catrina Wheatley ... Has two sister, Noelle and Alexandra ... Sister, Alexandra, swims at Bloomsburg University (Pa.).

High School: State qualifier during all four years ... Helped break school relay record which had previously been held by NCAA Champion Megan Romano ... Placed in the top eight in a pair of events at the state meet as a senior ... Swam for Saint Petersburg Aquatics.

Personal: Born Oct. 25, 1995 ... Daughter of Dave and Michelle Neely ... Has two brothers, Drummond and Drayton.

Lindsey Niehaus
Backstroke/Freestyle | Cincinnati, Ohio | Seton

High School: Named honorable mention all-city as a senior, whelping Seton to second-place finish in the Greater Girls Catholic League ... Set school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke as a senior ... Earned All-GGCL honors as both a junior and sophomore ... Named honorable mention All-GGCL as a sophomore after setting school record in the 200 medley relay.

Personal: Born Nov. 25, 1995 ... Daughter of Patrice and Tim Niehaus ... Has two siblings, Spencer and Parker.
