Five Things You Need To Know

  • The Bearcats return home for their third meet of the 2013-14 season, hosting Virginia Tech at Keating Aquatics Center. Diving is set for 10:00 a.m., while the swimming portion will begin at Noon. Admission is free and the meet can be seen live on BearcatsTV.

  • Both the men and women placed second at the West Virginia Invitational last weekend. The men finished right behind the host Mountaineers, while the women finished second to James Madison. The squads both scored victories over Xavier in the first meet of the season.

  • Jackie Keire enters the meet as the reigning American Athletic Conference Female Swimmer of the Week. The Canadian swam eight events at West Virginia, winning the 1,000 free, 100 free, 200 free and 500 free. Keire six individual victories on the year after two at the opening meet against the Musketeers.

  • The men's team has shown increased depth this season, as in 13 individual events, 11 different Bearcats own the best meet times of the season. Joey Ferreri and Awse Ma'aya are the only Bearcats with a top-time in multiple events. Ferreri owns the fast times in the 500 and 1,000 free, while Ma'aya has been quickest in the 100 back and 100 butterfly.

  • After hosting the Hokies, the Bearcats will stay in the friendly confines of the Keating Aquatics Center when they play host to Western Kentucky. The Hilltopers will visit for a meet that will begin with diving at 11:00 a.m., followed by swimming at 1:00 p.m.
