WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams will make its first road trip of the 2012-13 season when the Bearcats compete in the Purdue University Invitational Friday through Sunday at Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

In addition Purdue, the Bearcats will compete against teams from Louisville, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Utah, as well as a select group of student-athletes from the University of Michigan.

The Purdue Invitational begins Friday at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday evening. Swimming preliminary sessions begin 10 a.m. each day, with final heats scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Diving prelims are set to start at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Bearcats will compete in platform diving for the first time this season Sunday at noon, which will be a finals-only event.

After UC split a dual meet with crosstown rival Xavier on Oct. 19, the Bearcats dropped a pair of home dual meet to West Virginia on Nov. 2 and Pittsburgh on Nov. 3.

Bearcats freshman Jessica Piper (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) will look to continue her impressive start to the season after she's won all eight individual races she's raced in, as well as three of four relay events. Fellow freshman Iuliia Fedoreeva (Barnaul, Russia/Barnaul) is coming off her best start to young season after she won a pair of first-place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly races against Pitt.

On the men's side, sophomore Awse Ma'aya (Amman, Jordan/The Bolles School) has had a solid start to year, twice securing first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (Xavier) and 200 IM (WVU), while adding two second-place showing in the 100-yard backstroke against the Mountaineers and Panthers. Freshman Joe Bott (Clive, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) has claimed two first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle against Xavier and Pittsburgh this season.
