University of Cincinnati freshman swimmer Jackie Keire has been named the American Athletic Conference Female Swimmer of the Week for the second time in her young career. She set a pair of Keating Aquatics Center records in the Bearcats' last home meet versus Western Kentucky.
In the 100 freestyle, Keire finished first in 49.64. The mark not only broke a six-year old poll record, but also met the NCAA's B-Qualifying Standard. She also finished first in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:47.46. That time took down a seven-year old record, while also eclipsing the NCAA's B-Qualifying Standard in the event.
The pair of victories in the meet against the Hilltoppers gave Keire 10 individual event victories in four meets this season.
Keire and the rest of the Bearcats will resume action this Friday-Sunday, November 22-24, at the Pittsburgh Invitational. In addition to the host panthers, UC will compete against Fairmont State, West Virginia Wesleyan, the California (Pa.) women's team, the St. Bonaventure men's team and divers from Clemson.
