BLOOMINGTON, IN - Senior Monica Hundley (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) broke her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles by nearly one tenth of a second, leading the University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team at the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 26).
Hundley, who has broke her own school record numerous times in the last two seasons, was the top collegiate finisher, crossing the line in 8.63, nearly one tenth of a second faster than her previous best, an 8.72 last season.
Freshman Lilian Jelimo (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls) was a fifth-place finisher in the 3,000 meters, setting a school record with a 9:55.06. She topped Angie Kist's 2002 mark of 9:57.61.
Freshman Natasha Burse (Garland, Texas/Richardson) again had a spectacular meet, finishing fifth in both the 60 and 200 meter dashes. Her 25.23 in the 200 was a season-best among a loaded field that included former Bearcat and world-class sprinter Mary Wineberg.
Other finishers of note were senior Brittany Klima (Ottoville, OH/Ottoville), who cleared 12' 6-1/4" in the pole vault for a third-place finish. Freshman Kaylon Eppinger (Warrensville Heights, OH/Warrensville Heights) was a fifth-place finisher in the high jump with a 5' 3" clearance.
