The short sprints for the University of Cincinnati track & field programs closed out the Hoosier Hills Invitational with six top-eight finishes.
Javette Lee garnered UC’s top finish of the day as she claimed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72. Je’Rica Sanders finished on her heels with a time of 8.76 to garner fourth in the event.
In the 60-meter dash, Shanice Smith and Morgan Gordon finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Smith entered the finals tied for eighth with a time of 7.71 and posted the same time in the finals to finish sixth. Gordon ran 7.75.
On the men’s side, Demitri Beal finished sixth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.06, and Bryan Cain garnered seventh in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line at 8.14.
For most of the Bearcats, the Hoosier Hills Invitational was their final indoor meet before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, which are Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 in New York. A handful of UC’s student-athletes will compete the upcoming weekend to try and improve on their seeding for the league meet. The meet in which UC will attend has yet to be determined.
