ORLANDO, Fla. -
The University of Cincinnati women's track and field team wrapped up a weekend stint in Florida on the second day of action at the UCF Invitational.
Shanay Portis took 11th in the 100 meters, winning her heat in a time of 11.80. Cameron Gardner also won her heat, breaking the tape in 12.24 to snag 18th place overall. Morgan Gordon was 28th with her effort of 12.68.
Portis snagged 12th place in the 200 meters with a heat-winning time of 24.07. Gardner placed 37th with her 25.44 clocking.
Jasmine Cotten was 29th in the 400 meters, clocking 58.11 to win her heat. Jalisa Jarrett was on her heels in 30th, clocking 58.28. Alyssa Edley came home 35th with a time of 59.45 and Aricka Rhodes was 38th with her time of 1:00.23.
Jenna Heaton clocked 2:13.30 to take 13th place in the 800 meters. Katie Honigford was 25th in 2:19.06 and Emily Clay was 29th with a time of 2:23.67.
Danheisha Harding was 11th in the 100 hurdles, breaking the tape in 14.22 to win her heat. Kaitlyn Good placed 22nd with her run of 15.35.
Good was 12th in the 400 hurdles, breaking the tape in 1:02.49. Harding placed 18th in the race, clocking 1:05.26.
The 4x100 relay team of Gordon, Portis, Gardner and Alyssa Edley clocked 46.24 to place 9th overall.
Portis, Gordon, Rhodes and Jarrett teamed up to place 10th in the 4x400 relay, crossing the line in 3:48.28.
Good was 12th in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.63m (5-04.25).
Frida Akerstrom was seventh in the shot put, throwing 14.66m (48-01.25). Mekayla Breland was 13th with a best effort of 12.84m (42-01.50) and Jessica Mlyet was 16th with a toss of 12.34m (40-06.00).
Molyet placed ninth in the discus, throwing 45.43m (149-00). Mary Bridges took 10th place with a toss of 44.78m (146-11) and Akerstrom was 12th with her effort of 44.24m (145-02).
The Bearcats are back in action next weekend, playing host to the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, the team's final home meet of the season. The meet will run on both Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31.
