The University of Cincinnati track & field programs garnered 15 top-two finishes at the USF Collegiate on Friday in Tampa, Fla.
The men’s team was anchored by sophomore Macklin Tudor, who won two events. He claimed the shot put crown with a hurl of 54’ 3.25”, and the school record holder in the discus won the discus with a toss of 176’ 10”.
Fellow thrower Josh Province took second in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 178’ 10”, which moves him to sixth in school history.
Darnell Gilbert grabbed an individual title in the 400-meter dash as he crossed the line in a time of 47.36.
On the women’s side, Kenya Woodall recorded another impressive time in the 400-meter dash as she won the event in a time of 54.22.
Je’Rica Sanders also brought home an individual title as she won the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.76, which keeps her fifth in UC’s record book.
Fellow hurdler Javette Lee excelled in the 400-meter hurdles as she recorded a career-best time of 1:01.53. Her time moves her into third all-time and just over a second off Amanda Klug’s school record of 1:01.43 set in 2003.
Sophomore Erika Hurd was the runner-up in the high jump as she cleared 5’ 8”.
A pair of runner-up finishes came in the throws for UC as Mary Bridges finished second in the discus and Mekayla Breland did the same in the shot put.
The women’s 4x400-meter relay also snatched second place after running 3:47.10. The foursome was made up of Woodall, Lee, Shanice Smith and Jada Grant.
The Bearcats now return home for their final home meet of the year, which is the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships on April 11-12 at Gettler Stadium.
