OXFORD, Ohio - A group of University of Cincinnati track and field student-athletes took part in the Miami Invitational this past weekend at the RedHawks' Miami Invitational at the George L. Rider Track.

Shanice Smith placed third in the 100 meters, running a 12.34 clocking. She also took ninth in the 200 meters with a run of 25.42.

Kyle Donthnier was 13th in the 100 meters after clocking a time of 11.79. Cody Curry placed 19th in the 200 meters after a run of 24.01. Donthnier was 21st in 24.20.

Brian Barney clocked 50.77 to earn a ninth-place finish in the 400 meters.

Zachary Fields crossed the finish in 1:54.48 to place 12th in the 800 meters. Brian Palmer (1:58.55) was 22nd, Ethan Bokeno (1:58.67) was on his heels in 23rd and Ethan Leonard (2:00.27) placed 30th.

Matt Collmar finished the 1,500 meters in 4:06.99, placing 27th while Jeff Griffiths placed 11th in the 5,000 meters with his run of 15:21.71. Rob Flannigan was 27th in 16:03.91.

Lauren Goodwin led a group of three Bearcats with her 18th place finish in the 5,000 meters after a run of 18:25.17. Alex Mahle placed 32nd with a time of 19:24.29. Carly Bauer crossed the line in 20:33.19 to place 40th.

Jacob Frankling ran 33:34.01 in the 10,000 meters and placed sixth.

Brandon Cook clocked 16.56 in the 110 hurdles, snagging a 14th-place finish.



Cortney Staruch took fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:21.07.

Kyle Lang clocked a time of 9:39.49 in the men's steeplechase, grabbing fifth place.

Curry took third in the pole vault, clearing 4.41m (14-05.50).

Donthnier and Curry finished sixth and 12th in the long jump with marks of 6.61m (21-08.25) and 5.78m (18-11.75), respectively.

Josh Ballenger placed 14th in the discus throw after a heave of 44.69m (146-07). Ballenger also placed 15th in the hammer throw after a best effort of 45.11m (148-00). Josh Province was 19th with a throw of 41.36m (135-08). Ballenger closed his day with a sixth-place finish in the javelin after a heave of 52.55m (172-05).

The Bearcats return to action next weekend, taking part in the Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.
