GREENSBORO, N.C. - University of Cincinnati senior hurdler Terrence Somerville ran a 13.49 in the 110-meter hurdles Saturday evening to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 5-8.

Somerville won his heat Saturday to advance and continue his run at the NCAA Outdoor title. In Friday's race, Somerville set the school record, clocking a 13.37. He finished second on Saturday behind Florida's Eddie Lovett, who ran 13.39. The top 12 runners from the race advanced to the NCAA Championships.

Emelie Larsson, the BIG EAST Women's Outdoor Javelin Champion, was also in action Saturday afternoon. Her first throw of the day was her best, as she marked 44.02 meters (144'05"). Larsson then fouled on her second throw and followed with a mark of 43.67 meters (141'3.29"). Unfortunately, Larsson was unable to advance to the finals in Eugene. She ends the 2013 season at the top of her event. Larsson set the UC record and the Bauer Track and Field Complex facility record in the women's javelin on May 4 to capture the 2013 BIG EAST title. Her toss of 173'2" eclipsed the previous school record (166'0"), which she set in 2012, and bested the facility record by nearly eight feet.

In the men's triple jump, Michael Nwankwo's last jump was his top mark of the day. He jumped (47'9.75") to end the day after marking 14.36 meters (47'1.50") and 14.05 meters (46'1.0") on his first two jumps.

Rounding out the East Preliminaries for UC was Frida Akerstrom in the women's shot put. Her first shot of the day marked 14.80 meters (48'6.75"), and she followed with a mark of 14.72 meters (48'3.5"). On her third attempt of the day, Akerstrom duplicated her first mark with a shot of 48'6.75".

Dangel begins the pole vault finals competition Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m. ET, while Somerville races in the semifinals Thursday, June 6 at 8:20 p.m. ET. Should he advance, Somerville will battle for the title on Saturday, June 8 at 6:16 p.m. ET.

It's also the only facility to ever host three consecutive U.S. Olympic Trials (1972, 1976, 1980), while six U.S. Championships have graced the storied venue, including recent events in 1999, 2001, 2009 and 2011.

General admission tickets are $18.00 for adults, $10 for youth (ages 2-17) and seniors (ages 62 and up). Group rates are also available. Visit the NCAA ticketing page for more information or to purchase tickets.
