CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati 4x400 relay squad set a school record Saturday on the final day of action at the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Field in Jacksonville, Fla.

The quartet of Shanay Portis, Jalisa Jarrett, Aricka Rhodes and Kathy Klump clocked a time of 3:37.62, to snap the old mark of 3:37.93, set in 2011. Their strong effort came up just short as they placed 14th in the race, two spots away from qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.

During the three-day meet, the Bearcats qualified three individuals for the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set to take place inside Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa on June 6-9, 2012.

Michelle Eby (pole vault), Klump (800 meters) and Emelie Larsson (javelin) all punched their tickets for Drake Stadium while a fourth student-athletes, heptathlete Jasmine Cotton, advanced automatically based off her regular season qualification mark.

In other action Saturday, Josh Dangel was 13th in the men's pole vault with a top clearance of 5.27m (17-03.50), a personal best for the sophomore. Dangel had the same mark as 10 other vaulters and they were slotted according to attempts used in a jump off.

Chris Littleton threw 16.20m (53-01.25) in the shot put, placing him 41st overall.
