CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men’s outdoor track and field team competes in its third and final indoor meet of the season on Friday, Feb. 12, when the Bearcats travel to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Hills Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University.
The men’s team took last week off after competing at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet, Jan. 29-30 in Lexington, Ky. At the Rod McCravy Memorial, the men’s high jump trio of Mike Foley, Brandon Fitch, and Ryan Beltz all finished in the Top 5, while sophomore Terrence Somerville won the 60 hurdles and sophomore Troy Cooper threw an indoor personal record of 56’ 3” in the shot put to place second on UC’s all-time list.
In its final tune-up before the outdoor season begins on Saturday, March 20, with the Early Bird Relays at Gettler Stadium, the men’s squad will be looking for seasonal-bests, PR’s, and school records in their respective events.
A handful of UC women’s athletes will also be competing at the Hoosier Hills Invitational as they try to register BIG EAST qualifying marks in order to qualify for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, which will be held Feb. 20-21 at the Armory Track in New York City. The women’s squad already has 18 athletes that have qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in 24 events.
