The University of Cincinnati track & field programs will send a small squad this weekend to Columbus, Ohio for the Buckeye Tune-up on Friday.

The group will feature mainly short sprinters, hurdlers and pole vaulters with hopes of the student-athletes improving their season-best marks to help their seeding for the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, which are Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 in New York City.

Heading into this weekend, the Bearcats have 14 men that are ranked in the top eight of their event and eight women. On the men’s side, Josh Dangel and Michael Nwankwo are the only two that are ranked nationally in the top 50 with Dangel 18th in pole vault and Nwankwo 44th in the triple jump. On the women’s side three are ranked nationally: Erika Hurd, Kaitlyn Good and Alyssa McBride. Hurd sits 29th in the high jump, Good ranks 30th in the pentathlon and McBride is 43rd in the pole vault.

Events on Friday begin at 4:40 p.m. in the French Field House, which has a 200-meter surface.
