CHAPEL HILL, N.C.  -- Former University of Cincinnati All-American decathlete Chris Wineberg tied for fifth, but finished sixth due to tiebreakers, in the heptathlon at the USATF Indoor Combined Events Championships on Sunday, March 5, at the Eddie Smith Fieldhouse.  Current Bearcat Ashley Wilhelm placed sixth in the pentathlon.

Wineberg scored 5,452 points in the seven events, matching the total of Chris Randolph.  Wineberg, UC's record-holder in the decathlon, finished third in the long jump, pole vault, and 1,000 meter run.

Wilhelm, coming off a second-place finish in the pentathlon at the BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 19, posted 3,725 points, with her best performance coming in the high jump, where she matched a personal-best by clearing 5' 6".

The Bearcats will open their outdoor season on March 18 at Gettler Stadium as they host the Early Bird Relays.
