The University of Cincinnati track & field programs will participate at a pair of meets this weekend with a small group attending the 105th Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa while the rest of the team competes at the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.

A small group of student-athletes will make the trip to the Blue Oval in Iowa. Those competing at Drake will be Josh Dangel and Erika Hurd, who compete Friday afternoon, along with Alyssa McBride and Chase Beckmann, who compete Saturday morning.

In the 105 years of the Drake Relays, UC has taken the historic victory lap around Drake Stadium six times with two coming in 2011. The first that year came from Terrence Somerville in the 110-meter hurdles as he broke the Drake Relays’ record at the University-College Division. Somerville also aided in winning the second as he anchored UC’s 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay to a victory.

The remainder of the Bearcats will travel to Oxford, Ohio to compete at the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday.

This weekend will be the Bearcats’ final chance at improving their times and marks before the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, which is May 2-4 in Tampa, Florida.
