MEET INFORMATION: Men's Heat Sheets | Women's Heat Sheets

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team returns to Florida this weekend for the 2012 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Championships will be held at USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla., on May 4-6. The championship field will consist of 15 teams on the women's side and 13 on the men's side.

Both Bearcats squads will be looking to improve on sixth-place finishes from the 2011 outdoor championships.

UC featured two individual champions and a relay win last season at the league meet.

Terence Somerville set the BIG EAST meet record with his run of 13.44 in the finals of the 110 hurdles. Somerville is not competing this year due to injury. Eric Finan won the men's 5,000 meters in 14:11.43. He is entered in the race but has been limited during the outdoor season. The women's 4x400 relay squad of Shanay Portis, Ashley Arnold, Kathy Klump and Aricka Rhodes brought home the victory.

The decathlon and heptathlon will start at 4 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Decathlon events for Friday include the 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 meters. The heptathlon events are the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters.

Matt Bova and Kyle Kubera qualfied for the decathlon and Dominique Best, Jasmine Cotten and Kaitlyn Good will compete in the heptathlon. Cotten was the BIG EAST indoor champion in the pentathlon and an NCAA Indoor All-American.

Field events kick off Friday with the women's hammer throw at noon and the men's event at 2 p.m.

UC will feature Frida Akerstrom and Jessica Molyet in the women's event and Jake Haseman in the men's event.

Also on track Friday night will be the 3,000 steeplechase at 8:30 (women) and 8:45 (men), respectively.

Chase Beckmann and Tyler Ross will run the men's steeplechase while Cortney Staruch will toe the line in the women's event.

Competition resumes at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
