Adrian Valles to Compete at IAAF World Junior Championships

Incoming University of Cincinnati freshman Adrian Valles will represent Spain in the pole vault at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon on July 22-27.

Valles, a native of Pamplona, Spain, is one of Spain's top pole vaulters and heads to the meet after a successful season where he set a new personal-best mark of 17' 2.75".

"Adrian is a very talented pole vaulter, and he will have an immediate impact for our team replacing All-American Josh Dangel," said men's head coach Kris Mack. "I look forward to him continuing the great tradition of vaulting here at UC."

Valles will first compete in the qualification round on July 23 at 1:25 p.m. ET. He will advance to the finals which are at 5:30 p.m. ET on July 25, if he clears 15' 11" or is one of the top 12 performers in the qualifying round.
