2012 cross country season: Opened the season with a third-place finish at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 7, running the 5k course in 15:41.54 and finishing No. 1 for the Bearcats...finished 13th overall and No. 1 for the Bearcats at Vanderbilt University's Commodore Classic, running the 8k course in 25:04.57 as UC finished sixth...was the Bearcats' top finisher for the third time in three races at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship, finishing second overall on the 8k course in 24:40.02 in the Division I competition as UC won the team title...Bearcats' top finisher at the Pre-Nationals Invitational, run at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, taking 20 seconds off his previous PR in the 8k by finishing in 24:19.9, in 85th place overall...was 24th at the BIG EAST championship meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., finishing as the Bearcats' top runner and covering the 8k course in 25:15.33...finished 29th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with a time of 31:53...
2011 cross country season: Cotton was a freshman on the men's cross country team at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. ...Cotton ran in six races for the Ephs and was one of the team's top runners...Cotton finished third overall and second on his team in the McGill Open on Sept. 17, covering the 6k course in 19:18 and helping Williams to a first-place team finish...Cotton was the top runner on the Ephs junior varsity team in the Purple Valley Classic and finished second overall in the 5k on Sept. 24...at the Division I New England Championships on Oct. 8, Cotton was the 54th finisher overall and third on his team, running the 8k course in 25:59 as the Ephs finished ninth in the team standings...Cotton helped lead Williams to the team title at the Little Three Championship on Oct. 15, running the 8k course in 26:50.7, good for ninth overall and seventh on his team...Williams won the NCAA Division III New England regional championship on Nov. 12, where Cotton was second on his team and 10th overall with a season-best time of 25:01 over 8k...Cotton placed 55th overall and second on his team at the NCAA Division III national championship on Nov. 19, helping the Ephs to a sixth-place finish.

High school: Cotton was the Ohio state division III cross country individual champion in 2010...finished 24th at the Foot Locker midwest championships, earning third-team all-midwest honors...three-time all-Ohio, all-region and all-district...won the 2011 Ohio state division III 3,200-meter title in outdoor track...best prep times were 15:32 for 5k cross country, 9:25 for 3,200 meters and 4:24 for 1,600 meters...a four-time academic all-Ohio honoree (three times for cross country, once for track)...member of the National Honor Society...AP scholar with honor...National Merit Commended Scholar.
