The University of Cincinnati cross country programs ran solid at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational as seven runners posted personal-best times Saturday morning. The men’s team finished seventh overall, while the women claimed sixth.
For the second consecutive meet, seniors Evan Baum and Oliver Book paced the men’s team as they each claimed a top 30 finish and posted personal best times. Baum was the first of the two to finish in a time of 24:53.28 (24th) as Book followed on his heels for a time of 24:54.96 (26th).
Sophomores Jacob Franklin and Ian Silver were the next two Bearcats to cross the finish line. Franklin took 46th place in a personal-best time of 25:44.88, and Silver, who also had a career-best time of 25:47.86, finished 49th, respectively.
On the women’s side, the Bearcats had five sophomores and one freshman were in the lineup on Saturday. Alex Mahle led the youthful squad with a 40th place finish in a personal-best time of 18:49.53.
Maggie, Bischoff, Anne Pace, Sarah Pierce and Melissa Deitzer all finished in order as Bischoff (50th, 19:20.50) and Deitzer (53rd, 20:02.17) posted career bests.
Annette Brickman served as the rookie in the lineup and finished 56th, respectively.
Cincinnati will now take the next two weeks off from competing and ramp up their mileage in preparation for the All-Ohio Championship on Oct. 4.
