Finan Takes Third At 2011 Pre-Nationals Meet|

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Eric Finan (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond) ran a time of 24:04 to place third at the 2011 Pre-Nationals Meet Sunday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terra Haute, Ind.
Finan was nine seconds out of the top spot, taking by Iona's Leonard Korir (23:55), the 2011 NCAA Champion in the 5,000 meters (indoor) and 10,000 meters (outdoor). Colorado's Andrew Wacker (23:58) placed second.
The meet served as a preview for the 2011 NCAA Championships, which will be held in Terra Haute on Monday, Nov. 21. Six of the Top-30 and 29 regionally ranked men's team competed Sunday along with four of the Top-30 and 29 regionally ranked women's teams.
The UC men's team was 19th in the 8,000-meter race with 478 points. Colorado took the top spot with 82 points.
Oliver Book (Borden, Ind./Providence) was 92nd with a time of 25:41. Kevin Fink (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) ran a time of 25:53 to place 117 with Evan Baum (Shaker Heights, Ohio/St. Ignatius) on his heels in 118th place with a 25:54 clocking.
Chase Beckman (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) took 148th place with an effort of 26:12. Tyler Ross (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) grabbed 159th with his run of 26:23 and Matt Colmer (North Canton,Ohio/Glen Oak) finished 168th with a time of 26:29.
The UC women's squad was 30th in the 6,000-meter race with 802 points. Florida State won the women's meet scoring 46 points. UTEP's Risper Kimaiyo was the top finisher with a time of 20:19.
Alison Zukowski (Mentor, Ohio/St. Mark's/Delaware) was the top UC finisher after clocking 22:38 to place 103rd.
Emily Clay (Bloomington, Ill./University) rank 22:43 to take 107th place. Bridget Connelly (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes/IUP) was 194th with a run of 23:57. Jill Glassmeyer (Cincinnati,Ohio/McAuley) placed 196th with her effort of 23:59.
Cortney Staruch (Hinckley, Ohio/Medina Highland) finished 202nd after running a time of 24:06. Ashley Earman (Centeville, Ohio/Centerville) and Lauren Goodwin (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) placed 223rd and 224th with times of 24:28 and 24:29, respectively.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, heading to Louisville, Ky. to take part in the 2011 BIG EAST Championships at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
