Bearcats Student-Athletes Honored for Classroom Performance|
Jan. 24, 2014
The average halftime presentation at a men's basketball game does not include 226 participants, but that is exactly the number of Bearcats student-athletes who were recognized at Fifth Third Arena for posting a grade-point average of at least 3.0 during the Fall 2013 semester.
At halftime of Thursday night's men's basketball game versus Temple, the group was recognized before 10,000-plus fans for their achievements off the field. The group making the Bearcat Honor Roll for achieving at least a 3.0 represented 52% of all UC student-athletes, while 34% of all student-athletes earned a spot on the Dean's List for posting at least a 3.4 GPA.
Included in the 226 Bearcat Honor Roll members were 25 student-athletes who were recognized as TopCat Scholars for posting a perfect 4.0 GPA last semester.
Overall, the athletic department posted a fall grade-point average of 3.016. Head coach Angela Farley Wilson's tennis squad had the highest team GPA at 3.556, while Ty Neal's first full semester at UC saw his baseball team post the highest by a men's program at 3.232.
