METAIRIE, La. -- The Unviersity of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country programs were each awarded 2006 All-Academic Team honors with distinction by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA).

The award is given to teams with cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or greater.  UC's men held a 3.33 team GPA, while the women's team carried a 3.34 GPA.

"As a coach, I am proud of the zest for learning displayed by our student-athletes," head cross country coach Bill Schnier said.  "It makes coaching easy and enjoyable."

The UC men's team was ranked 16th of 86 squads nationally to earn the honor, while the women's team was 67th among the 145 eligible teams.
