Sept. 4, 2014
The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams kickoff the 2014 competition schedule Friday night at the 33rd Annual Queen City Invitational in Mason, Ohio at Kingswood Park.
Both the men and women will run a 5K with the men starting off the meet at 5 p.m. with the women following around 5:45 p.m.
The men's team is coming off a runner-up finish at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. The squad returns four of its top seven runners from last year's team and adds a strong incoming class of five student-athletes.
The women's team returns everyone from last year and adds six runner as well. Last season, UC was one of the youngest teams in the league, so Burroughs believes the team will be much improved with the experience gained from last season.
The weather is forecasted to be in the mid-90s, so associate head coach Sam Burroughs says he isn't really focused on time. He is more focused on keeping the athletes healthy, getting through the meet, and looking towards the Friendship Invitation in Cedarville, Ohio in two weeks.
