CINCINNATI – Following a week off from competition, the University of Cincinnati men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 2, at the 55th Annual All-Ohio Cross Country Championships at the Methodist Theological School/Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Close to 50 NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA schools from the State of Ohio will be present and the event is slated to begin with the women’s varsity 5K race at 2 p.m. The men’s varsity 8K race will follow at 2:45 p.m.

The Methodist Theological School/Delaware Golf Club is the home course for Ohio Wesleyan University and it has been the site of the 1984 and the 2005 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

Last season, both the men’s and women’s teams finished second overall at the All-Ohio Championships, and junior Lilian Jelimo stole the show with first-place honors in the women’s race. Jelimo became the second Cincinnati runner to win the race in the history of the event, joining Ruth Limo, who won the event in 2004. Tommy Morgan was the top men’s finisher at last year’s race with a 10th-place showing.

In two races this season, sophomore Eric Finan has two first-place finishes on his resume with wins at the Queen City Invitational and the Iona Meet of Champions. Two weeks ago at the Iona Meet of Champions, Finan ran the 8k race in a time of 25:21.60, which bested 203 runners including runners from nationally-ranked programs such as Iona and Wisconsin.

The women’s team has been paced by senior Jocelyn McCauley, who won the Queen City Invitational before placing fourth at the Iona Meet of Champions. The duo of Tamara Masters and Jelimo has been right behind McCauley in both races thus far giving UC a dynamic 1-2-3 combination.
