The University of Cincinnati men’s and women’s cross country programs head to the 2013 NCAA Great Lakes Regional, which takes place on Friday, Nov. 15 in Madison , Wis. The men’s race gets underway at 1 p.m. ET, with the women’s race to follow at 2:15 p.m. ET.

The four-year old Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course will serve as the site of the championship races for 31 men’s and 34 women’s teams. The championship meet will consist of a 6,000-meter race for the women and a 10,000-meter race for the men.

The Bearcats men’s program heads into their first 10K race of the season after finishing second at the American Athletic Conference Championships. UC returns five runners from last year’s team that finished 13th. Seniors Eric Hauser and Evan Baum are the top returns as each cracked the top 100 and ran the 10K course in just over 33 minutes.

The women’s team looks to improve on their 19th-place finish from last season. Four members of the Bearcats squad ran at the regional last fall including Ashley Earman, who has been UC’s top performer all season.

The top two teams from each of the nine regions will automatically advance to the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. On Sunday, Nov. 24, the NCAA will announce 13 at-large selections to enhance the field to 31 teams.
