Jim Kelly

  • Earned the reputation as one of the top receivers in UC grid history during his four seasons.
  • Either shared or owned seven UC receiving records when he concluded his career--records that were broken by receivers he tutored ( UC Hall of Famers Jim O'Brien and Tom Rossley) in the late 1960s as UC's receivers coach.
  • As a junior, he finished sixth nationally in receptions with 42.
  • Leading scorer in the Mid-American Conference in 1950 with nine TD receptions and one PAT kick.
  • Returned to UC as assistant coach in 1960 and served for 16 seasons under five head coaches, coaching receivers and kickers.
  • Launched his administrative career as assistant athletics director in 1977.
  • Closed his career with 82 receptions for 1,114 yards.
  • UC Athletic Hall of Fame 1978.
