Ron Bonham

  • Starter throughout his three-year varsity career, helping UC compile a record of 72-13 during that period.
  • Helped lead UC to the NCAA National Championship as a sophomore in 1962 and a runner-up finish in 1963.
  • Leading scorer his junior and senior seasons, posting averages of 21.0 and 24.4.
  • Closed his career as UC's second-leading scorer of all-time with 1,666 points, a total which currently ranks him in the top 10.
  • His 19.6-point career scoring average is the third-best in UC history.
  • Three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection.
  • Team captain as a senior.
  • Consensus first team All-American in 1963 (AP, UPI, Basketball Writers, Helms, Converse, NABC), third team pick (NEA); earned second team All-American honors in 1964 (AP, UPI, Converse) and was third team (NABC).
  • Columbus Touchdown Club Player of the Year selection in 1963.
  • Taken in the second round by Boston in the 1964 NBA Draft and played on two NBA championship teams for the Celtics.
