Sam Slavik is in his first season as the volunteer assistant coach with the Bearcats. He will assist pitching coach J.D. Heilmann with the pitching staff, as well as help with the daily operation of UC Baseball.

Went 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and one strikeout in 4.2 innings pitched.
Did not allow a run on three of five appearances and limited opponents to a .235 batting average.
Made season debut at Clemson (2/25) and pitched one scoreless inning.
Threw season-best two innings at West Virginia (5/7).
2010 Summer: Pitched out of bullpen for Grand Lake Mariners in the Great Lakes League ... had a 2.35 ERA in 15 1/3 innings pitched ... allowed just 14 hits and five walks while striking out eight and limiting opposing hitters to a .246 batting average.
2010 Season (Sophomore): Made 22 appearances on the mound ... tallied a 4.14 ERA in 41.1 innings of work ... struck out 38 and walked 12 in his appearances ... went 19.0 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run from March 30 to April 24 ... collected a 4-1 record with all four wins coming after April 14 ... struck out a career-high five batters in 3.0 innings of work at Seton Hall (4/10).
2009 Summer: Made 10 appearances out of the bullpen for the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes League ... completed 16.1 innings of work while opponents hit only .203 against him.
2009 Season (Redshirt Freshman): Appeared in 14 games making two starts ... completed the season with a .476 ERA, marking the third best ERA on the squad ... struck out 22 batters and walked only 10 in 28.1 innings of work ... pitched a season-high 4.0 innings three times ... combined to pitch 5.2 innings of work in his last four outings and gave up just one earned run during that stretch ... struck out a season-high four batters on April 1 versus Indiana.
2008 Summer: Made eight starts for the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes League ... owned a 7.16 ERA in 36.2 innings.
2008 Season (Freshman): Redshirted.
High School: A two-year all-conference selection at Coldwater High School ... part of league championship teams as a freshman and sophomore ... held a record of 35-9 and a 1.42 ERA during last three summer seasons and two prep campaigns ... earned All-Ohio second-team plaudits in football during senior year ... served as treasurer of National Honors Society.
