Baseball Takes Series From Northeastern With 4-2 Sunday Win|

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team picked up a series win over Northeastern after a 4-2 win on Sunday at Marge Schott Stadium.
The Bearcats (9-9) won the final two games of the series and are 5-1 at home on the season. Northeastern dropped to 7-10 on the season.
With the game tied at four apiece in the bottom of the sixth inning, Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill./Grant) singled through the right side and Joey Thomas (Mason, Ohio/Mason) scored the go-ahead run to make the margin 3-2 in favor of the Bearcats. UC added an insurance run in the same inning as Noda came home on a wild pitch from Northeastern reliever David Stiehl.
UC got three innings of one-hit relief pitching from Reese Robinson (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) and David Orndorff (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena Polytechnic) to lock up the first home series of the 2017 campaign. Orndorff picked up his second save of the series. Cam Alldred (Batavia, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) picked up the win after pitching a scoreless sixth inning. Clayton Colvin (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) started and surrendered four hits and a pair of runs in five innings of work, striking out three in the no-decision.
UC put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Connor McVey (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and R.J. Thompson plated RBIs. McVey hit a double to left field to score leadoff man Kyle Mottice and Thompson singled to center field to score McVey.
