CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team was not able to overcome a five-run sixth inning by Santa Clara University on Mother's Day Sunday afternoon at Marge Schott Stadium.
The Broncos took their first lead of the game in the sixth inning. Second baseman Kyle DeMerritt got hit by a pitch to lead the inning off. A Bearcats' strike out ended the threat.

Santa Clara tied things up in the fifth on a one-out single by first baseman T.J. Braff that scored the DH C.J. Jacobe. Christian McElroy (Middletown, Ohio / Sinclair CC) escaped further damage by getting a pop-out to end the inning and leave a runner stranded on second base.
In the bottom on the fifth Cincinnati threatened again, but was unable to score. Quinn reached on a throwing error to start the inning. He advanced to second on sacrifice bunt by freshman catcher Woody Wallace. Quinn then moved over to third on another bunt by Hawk. Perron grounded out to second base to end the inning.
